The Men

(1950)Directed by Fred Zinnemann85 minDrama
“A completely new experience between men and women!”

Ken (Marlon Brando) comes home from the war paralyzed, and he lands in the paraplegic ward of a veteran's hospital, bitter and shut inside his own anger. He turns away his fiancée Ellen (Teresa Wright), while Dr. Brock (Everett Sloane) and the other men on the ward keep trying to draw him out. Fred Zinnemann sets the story among real wheelchairs and hospital beds, and what Ken stands to lose is the woman waiting for him and any life beyond that ward.
