The Mercy

“Based on the true story”

Donald Crowhurst (Colin Firth) is an amateur sailor and small-time businessman in 1968, and he wants to win the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race by sailing around the world alone, without a stop. His wife Clare (Rachel Weisz) and the press agent Rodney Hallworth (David Thewlis) are drawn into the plan, and the family's home is put up to pay for it. James Marsh follows Donald out to sea, a man whose ambition has already outrun what he can afford.
