The Midnight Swim

“Death is not what you think.”

June (Lindsay Burdge) films everything on a handheld camera, even the long drive home to Spirit Lake after her mother, Dr. Amelia Brooks, vanishes on a deep-water dive. She and her half-sisters Annie (Jennifer Lafleur) and Isa (Aleksa Palladino) sort through their mother's things while the lake stays unmeasured, no diver having ever found its bottom. Sarah Adina Smith's debut is about grief, and how a person can keep circling the place where someone was lost.
