The Milk of Sorrow
Fausta (Magaly Solier) is a young Peruvian woman who believes she was born with the Milk of Sorrow, a sickness passed through the breast milk of mothers who were abused while pregnant. She lives in constant fear, and when her mother dies, she is left to decide what to do with a body and a dread she cannot put down. Claudia Llosa tells it in a quiet, deliberate manner, letting Fausta's frightened silences carry more than any explanation.
