“PERVERTED... SOULESS! The Most Dangerous And Different Motion Picture Ever Brought To The Screen!”

In 1963 Britain, a scientist at Oxford is exposed as a Communist informant and kills himself. Dr. Henry Laidlaw Longman (Dirk Bogarde) volunteers for an experiment to test whether sensory deprivation could have done it, with Major Hall (John Clements) watching. Basil Dearden follows Longman into the tank, where the aim is to turn him against his wife Oonagh (Mary Ure), and he has to trust that his love will hold.
