“Come as you are.”

Cameron Post (Chloë Grace Moretz), a Pennsylvania teenager in 1993, wants to get through the summer without being changed. She is sent to a conversion therapy center after being caught with another girl, where Dr. Lydia Marsh (Jennifer Ehle) has her repent for her "same sex attraction." Desiree Akhavan lets the days run flat and quiet, and finds a new family in Cameron's friendships with Jane (Sasha Lane) and Adam (Forrest Goodluck).
