The Moment of Truth

Miguel (Miguelín) leaves his poor village and steps into the ring in Franco's Spain, a young man who sees bullfighting as the only way out of poverty. Francesco Rosi follows him through the apprenticeship and the first crowds, with his apoderado, José Gómez Sevillano, handling the money. The film treats the bullring as a trade, where a poor man puts his body on the line for a wage.
