The Monster Walks

Ruth Earlton (Vera Reynolds) returns to the family mansion to claim her inheritance, only to learn that her father died suddenly and in suspicious circumstances. Her boyfriend Ted Clayton (Rex Lease) stays close as the house fills with locked rooms, a grim household, and an ape that does not seem happy about any of it. Frank R. Strayer keeps Ruth at the center, a young woman who came for what was owed her and now cannot leave.
