The More the Merrier

(1943)Directed by George Stevens104 minComedy, Romance
“The only picture with a DINGLE!”

Connie Milligan (Jean Arthur) wants to do her part in wartime Washington, so she offers to sublet half her apartment, picturing a quiet female tenant. Instead she gets Benjamin Dingle (Charles Coburn), a talkative older man who sublets half of his half to Joe Carter (Joel McCrea) before she has finished objecting. George Stevens crowds the three into one small place, where Connie and Joe keep ending up in each other's way.
