The Mother and the Whore

(1973)Directed by Jean Eustache219 minDrama, Romance

What keeps Alexandre (Jean-Pierre Léaud) from working, from leaving, from deciding anything at all? He drifts through his days with Marie (Bernadette Lafont) until he meets Veronika (Françoise Lebrun) and starts seeing her too. Jean Eustache, drawing on his own relationships, follows the three as the jealousy grows, and Alexandre keeps talking, as if the next sentence might finally explain him.
