The Mouth Agape

Monique (Monique Mélinand) is dying of cancer, and she spends her days in bed in the apartment above the family's store. Her husband Roger (Hubert Deschamps) keeps chasing other women, her son Philippe (Philippe Léotard) stays at a distance, and nobody seems able to say what they feel. Maurice Pialat leaves the family to the small noises of the apartment: the bed, the doorway, the voices carrying up from the store below.
