Kharis (Lon Chaney Jr.), the bandaged Egyptian mummy, has lain in Louisiana quicksand for twenty-five years when a swamp draining project lets him loose in the bayous. Leslie Goodwins sends him shambling through the wet country after Princess Ananka (Virginia Christine), whose soul still lives in the body of a woman now seeking protection at the work camp. Kharis was buried once and dragged back up, and he has never stopped searching for her.
