The Music Man
In Persian, "playing the santour" is also slang for injecting heroin, and Dariush Mehrjui builds his film on that double meaning. Ali Boloorchi (Bahram Radan) is the son of a well-off family who plays the santour, an Iranian instrument, and teaches music, a profession his family despises. He falls for one of his students, Hanieh (Golshifteh Farahani), and for a short while the two of them are happy together.
