The Music Room

Biswambhar Roy (Chhabi Biswas), an aging landlord in Bengal, keeps selling off what he owns to pay for another night of music in his mansion's grand hall. Across the way, a younger and richer neighbour has built a music room of his own, and Roy will not let it outshine his. Satyajit Ray lets the land, the jewels and the family name drain away, until the only thing left to lose is the house itself.
