The Mystery of Mr. Wong

(1939)Directed by William Nigh68 minMystery, Thriller, Crime
“A gay party is interrupted by murder and the world's most costly jewel stolen!”

James Lee Wong (Boris Karloff) is a San Francisco detective who works the hard cases alongside Police Capt. Sam Street (Grant Withers). The case that finds him is a sapphire called the Eye of the Daughter of the Moon, stolen in China, smuggled to America, and said to kill whoever holds it. William Nigh follows the search into Chinatown and a place known as the House of Hate, where a jewel's curse is only a story until people start dying.
