The Namesake
“Two Worlds. One Journey.”
Why would parents give their son a name he comes to find unbearable? Gogol (Kal Penn) grows up in New York as the American-born child of Indian immigrants, Ashoke (Irrfan Khan) and Ashima (Tabu), who hold to their traditional ways even as he tries to blend in with everyone around him. Mira Nair moves between Kolkata and New York, and Gogol keeps pulling away from the family and the name he was handed.
