Nanny (Bette Davis) has kept the Fane household in London for years, and when ten-year-old Joey comes home after two years in a psychiatric ward, she is the one who meets him. He won't eat what she cooks, won't bathe with her in the room, and insists on a bedroom that locks. Seth Holt sets his parents, Bill (James Villiers) and the nervous Virgie (Wendy Craig), against a boy who looks afraid of the one person they trust completely.
