The Narrow Margin

(1952)Directed by Richard Fleischer71 minThriller, Crime
“A Fortune If They Seal Her Lips!...A Bullet If They Fail!”

Det. Sgt. Walter Brown (Charles McGraw) has to get Mrs. Frankie Neall (Marie Windsor), a gangster's widow and an important witness, from Chicago to Los Angeles by train. Richard Fleischer keeps the whole film inside the cramped corridors and compartments of that one trip. Everything here comes down to how far a person can be protected, and how little a train gives anyone to hide behind.
