The Navigators

The British Rail sign comes down at a depot in South Yorkshire, and the one that replaces it reads East Midland Infrastructure. John (Dean Andrews), Mick (Thomas Craig) and the rest of the maintenance gang are told that privatisation means downsizing. Ken Loach, working from Rob Dawber's screenplay, keeps his eye on the men's friendships, the jokes and loyalties they have shared on the track, and what happens to those bonds once the work changes.
