The New Boy

“A mysterious new arrival disturbs a delicately balanced world in this story of spiritual struggle and the cost of survival.”

In a remote monastery in 1940s Australia, a boy is delivered in the dead of night to a mission for Aboriginal children run by Sister Eileen (Cate Blanchett). He carries some kind of power, and he does not speak the way the others do. Warwick Thornton follows him as a carved Christ on a cross arrives and holds him still, while Eileen watches a child she cannot place and has to decide what she owes him.
