The New World

“Once discovered, it was changed forever.”

In the early seventeenth century, Captain Smith (Colin Farrell) is brought ashore with English settlers to found Jamestown, Virginia, on land the Powhatan people already hold. He meets Pocahontas (Q'orianka Kilcher), the daughter of the chief Powhatan (August Schellenberg), and neither can say what they are to each other. Terrence Malick lets the two of them stand in the tall grass, the river running beside them.
