The New York Ripper

“Slashing up women was his pleasure.”

A duck-voiced caller rings Lt. Fred Williams (Jack Hedley) with taunts, and the women of New York keep turning up slashed with a switchblade or a straight-razor, with nothing to connect them. Williams, worn down by the job, brings in a college psychoanalyst to help read the killer's pattern. Lucio Fulci sets his giallo in a city where every victim is chosen at random, so no one has a reason to feel safe.
