“It's ancient wisdom against teenage spunk. 1,000 years of karate tradition is about to get a kick in the pants.”

Julie Pierce (Hilary Swank) is a teenager who blames herself for her parents' deaths, and she is not settling in with her grandmother Louisa (Constance Towers) or the students at her new school. Christopher Cain brings back Miyagi (Pat Morita), who takes her in and decides to teach her. The two start from nearly nothing, an old man who says little and a girl who has stopped trusting anyone.
