“They're not that nice.”

Holland March (Ryan Gosling), a private eye in 1970s Los Angeles, just wants to keep collecting fees on small cases while raising his teenage daughter Holly (Angourie Rice). Then a fading porn star turns up dead, and a missing girl, Amelia (Margaret Qualley), leads him to Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe), an enforcer who breaks bones for money. Shane Black puts the two of them in a bad suit and a worse mood, with Holly tagging along behind.
