“Love and liberation in wartime”

London in the war years has thrown four people together, and they are living with a freedom the old rules would never have allowed. Kay Langrish (Anna Maxwell Martin) and Helen Giniver (Claire Foy) are among them, with Vivian Pearce (Jodie Whittaker) near. Richard Laxton keeps the three of them close, Kay in her coat, Helen at her side, the city around them kept out of sight.
