The Nutcracker Prince

(1990)Directed by Paul Schibli75 min · GAnimation, Family
“Join us in a classic tale of adventure, romance, bravery and a really mean mouse.”

On Christmas night, young Clara (Megan Follows) falls asleep clutching the wooden nutcracker her uncle gave her and wakes inside a battle between the Nutcracker Prince (Kiefer Sutherland) and the Mouse King (Mike MacDonald). The Prince is Hans, a young man the mice turned into a toy, and only the Mouse King's death will free him. Paul Schibli retells the Hoffmann story and the Tchaikovsky ballet as a hand-drawn Canadian animation.
