The Oak
Romania, just before Ceausescu falls. Nela (Maia Morgenstern), the daughter of a former Securitate colonel, has turned away from her sister, who works as a Securitate agent. After their father dies she leaves Bucharest for a small town, where she meets Mitica (Răzvan Vasilescu), a surgeon who laughs at everything around him. Lucian Pintilie ends up with a woman and a man whom the country has left to drift.
