The Object of Beauty

(1991)Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg103 minDrama, Comedy, Crime
“Love is more than dollars and sex.”

In London in 1991, the American couple Jake (John Malkovich) and Tina (Andie MacDowell) live in an expensive hotel they cannot afford. When a lavish dinner bill arrives and Jake's card is declined, he suggests they sell Tina's small, costly Henry Moore sculpture, then settles on a plan to report it stolen and collect the insurance. Michael Lindsay-Hogg keeps the camera in the hotel rooms with the unpaid bill and the empty space where the sculpture sat.
