In 1969 England, Markham Manor is a gloomy house where Sir Julian Markham (Vincent Price) keeps his deranged brother Edward chained as a prisoner. Gordon Hessler pairs Price with Christopher Lee as Dr. J. Neuhartt, in the first film to star the two together. Once Edward gets loose, he sets out to punish everyone he believes double-crossed him, and the people who crossed him are not the only ones in the house.
