The Old Dark House

“Beware the night!”

A landslide-bringing storm drives Penderel (Melvyn Douglas), Sir William Porterhouse (Charles Laughton) and their companions off a Welsh road and into the Femm family mansion, where Horace Femm (Ernest Thesiger) lets them in and the huge servant Morgan (Boris Karloff) says nothing. James Whale fills the house with candle flames and sniping hosts. Strangers thrown together by weather have to hold on to one another, and the house keeps testing them.
