The Organizer

“A RARE MOTION PICTURE... BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE!”

A fourteen-hour day at a Turin textile mill ends with a worker's hand lost to the machinery, and the men on the floor decide to stop work. Professor Sinigaglia (Marcello Mastroianni), a former schoolteacher turned union organizer, turns up to help them. Mario Monicelli sets the story in the late nineteenth century, and Mastroianni stands at the factory gates in the gray Turin morning.
