“The one weekend of the year you won't want to miss.”

John Tanner (Rutger Hauer) hosts a television news show, and he is good at making powerful people uncomfortable on camera. Then CIA agent Lawrence Fassett (John Hurt) tells him that the old friends he has invited to his country house for the weekend, among them Bernard Osterman (Craig T. Nelson) and Richard Tremayne (Dennis Hopper), are part of a conspiracy. Peckinpah's last film is about how little it takes to make a man doubt everyone he trusts.
