“NY's finest were busy.”

Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) is a mild-mannered forensic accountant in the NYPD, happy to stay at his desk while the department's star cops make the headlines. His partner, Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg), is the opposite, a short-fused detective stuck doing paperwork beside him. Adam McKay sends them after a case that looks small, and they set out in an ordinary squad car, Hoitz at the wheel and Gamble in the passenger seat.
