“An Epic Journey.”

A young man from Idaho Falls is sent to the Tongan islands in the 1950s with no clear idea what he will find there or how he will be received. John Groberg (Christopher Gorham) has a church assignment, a language he cannot speak, and Jean (Anne Hathaway), the girl he has left at home. Mitch Davis builds the story around the letters between them, and every month John stays is one more month he might lose her.
