The Other Side of Hope

Khaled (Sherwan Haji) has reached Finland as a Syrian asylum-seeker and wants one thing: to find his missing sister, Miriam (Niroz Haji). Across town, Wikström (Sakari Kuosmanen), a businessman, leaves his wife (Kaija Pakarinen) and puts his money into a restaurant, and the two men end up in each other's way. Aki Kaurismäki films all of it in his flat, deadpan manner, with the actors speaking in a dry, level tone.
