“Sooner or later they’ll find you.”

Grace Stewart (Nicole Kidman) lives with her two children in a sprawling Jersey manor in 1945, keeping the curtains drawn because of their light sensitivity. When a new housekeeper, Mrs. Mills (Fionnula Flanagan), arrives, strange sounds move through the house and Grace becomes convinced intruders are hiding in the rooms. She grows more frantic, certain they are trying to reach her children, and her grip on what is real begins to slip.
