The Ottoman Lieutenant

“In a land on the brink of war the most dangerous place to be is in love.”

Lillie Rowe (Hera Hilmar) is a determined American nurse who crosses an ocean to join Dr. Jude (Josh Hartnett) at a remote medical mission in the Ottoman Empire. Her stay there gets complicated when she falls for Ismail (Michiel Huisman), a lieutenant in the Ottoman army, as war draws close. Joseph Ruben frames their courtship as a slow romance set against an empire on the edge of conflict.
