The Overtaxed

In 1959 Italy, Torquato Pezzella (Totò) runs a well-established luxury-clothing store and has decided that paying taxes is not right. He hires a tax consultant, Ettore (Louis de Funès), to help him get around more of them, which puts him on a collision course with Maresciallo Fabio Topponi (Aldo Fabrizi). Steno stages the squabble over a shopkeeper's ledgers as a war, and the film treats what a man owes the state as a question worth fighting over.
