The Page Turner
Mélanie Prouvost (Déborah François) was ten, a butcher's daughter and a gifted pianist, when she sat the Conservatory entrance exam. She failed after the jury's president, Ariane Fouchécourt (Catherine Frot), signed an autograph mid-performance. Denis Dercourt picks the story up ten years on, with Mélanie turning pages beside Ariane at the piano, and the film shows how a small slight can sit in someone for a decade.
