The Paradine Case

(1947)Directed by Alfred Hitchcock114 minDrama, Mystery, Romance
“The dramatic case of a beautiful woman whose trial for murder held the nation spellbound.”

Maddalena Paradine (Alida Valli) is accused of poisoning her blind husband, and she gives the London court almost nothing to work with. Barrister Anthony Keane (Gregory Peck) takes her case and, though he is happily married to Gay (Ann Todd), grows certain of her innocence the moment he meets her. Alfred Hitchcock sets one marriage and one man's career against a client he cannot stop wanting to save.
