A Polish spy named Krystyna Skarbek (Morgane Polanski) runs agents and sabotage operations for the British in occupied Europe during World War II. She moves through safe houses and dead drops, her cover dependent on absolute isolation from her network, her identity from moment to moment a function of which alias serves the mission. The work demands a particular kind of ruthlessness: the understanding that survival and betrayal often wear the same face.
