The Pelican Brief

“Two Supreme Court Justices have been assassinated. One lone law student has stumbled upon the truth. An investigative journalist wants her story. Everybody else wants her dead.”

Two Supreme Court justices are dead within days of each other, and Washington, D.C. has no explanation. Darby Shaw (Julia Roberts), a law student, writes up a theory about the killings that she never meant anyone to read, and it lands in the hands of people who want her silent. Alan J. Pakula follows her and the Washington Herald reporter Gray Grantham (Denzel Washington) as the brief passes from desk to desk.
