The Perfect Candidate

Dr. Maryam Alsafan (Mila Al-Zahrani) works at a small Saudi clinic and wants a smoother road for the patients who come through it, so she puts her name forward for a seat on the municipal council. Many of the men around her think a woman has no business asking, and she keeps going anyway, her confidence building with each prejudice she meets. Haifaa al-Mansour tells it plainly, staying close to Maryam's face and the rooms she has to talk her way into.
