Captain Billy Tyne (George Clooney) has had a bad swordfishing season out of Gloucester, and he wants one more trip to make it right. He takes the Andrea Gail out in October 1991, with Bobby Shatford (Mark Wahlberg) among his crew. Wolfgang Petersen follows the boat as three weather systems close on the North Atlantic, with six men aboard and a long way home.
