The Persian Version

“Based on a true story... sort of.”

The whole Iranian-American family crowds into New York City when the patriarch needs a heart transplant, and Leila (Layla Mohammadi), the only daughter among a pack of brothers, arrives already at odds with her mother, Shireen (Niousha Noor). Then a family secret comes out, and the two of them are pushed back into the years before Leila was born. Maryam Keshavarz fills the scenes with relatives talking over one another.
