The Phantom of the Open

“Every dreamer deserves a shot.”

Maurice Flitcroft (Mark Rylance) is a crane operator in a small shipbuilding town who cannot stop believing the next idea will be the good one. In 1976 he enters the British Open qualifying, having never played a full round of golf. His wife Jean (Sally Hawkins) and their sons stand behind him, and Craig Roberts follows what happens to a family when one man's hope gets very public.
