The Piano Teacher

“Perversion at its wicked best!”

Erika Kohut (Isabelle Huppert) teaches piano at the Vienna conservatory and goes home each night to the apartment she shares with her mother (Annie Girardot), who controls nearly every hour of her life. When Walter Klemmer (Benoît Magimel), a young man with a gift for the piano, begins pursuing her, Erika answers him with demands of her own. Michael Haneke follows the two of them as desire turns into a contest over who gets to control the other.
