“The Pick-Up Artist... has finally met his match.”

In 1987 New York, Jack Jericho (Robert Downey Jr.) spends his days and nights working the sidewalks, talking his way into the numbers of strangers. Then he meets Randy Jensen (Molly Ringwald), whose father Flash (Dennis Hopper) is a gambling addict in debt to the mob. James Toback writes the city's after-hours world with an easy, talky looseness, and lets Jack's charm run into someone who won't be worked.
