The Pilgrim

(1923)Directed by Charlie Chaplin47 minComedy, Western
“The tale of an escaped prisoner who swiped a parson's clothes.”

An escaped convict (Charlie Chaplin) just wants to get clear of the law, and he finds the quickest cover in a stolen minister's suit. A small town takes him for its new pastor, and Miss Brown (Edna Purviance) welcomes him into her home. Chaplin made the film in 1923, and the longer the borrowed collar stays on, the closer the real man comes to being found out.
