The Pillow Book

Nagiko (Vivian Wu), a Japanese model, goes looking for lovers who can write on her skin, because calligraphy on the body is the only thing that moves her. She finds a match in Jerome (Ewan McGregor), an English translator sent to Japan, while her father's publisher (Yoshi Oida) is still part of the family's past. Peter Greenaway makes body painting the language between her and Jerome, each brushstroke a way of reading the other.
